Kitchen work day 3

Henry helps with the drilling

The refrigerator was the focus on the work session. The door has been split into a freezer and fridge part. The refrigerator got a new shelf and is going to get a wire basket for lots of food storage. Now it is ready for paint, which is going to take a lot of work but should be cute.

The oven also got a nice rack, per Daniel's design. Henry can pull it out to put his pans in for baking, but he can't get it all the way out so, we won't lose it. He really loves the moving parts.

Busey Woods

On Monday we went out to Busey Woods and Anita Purves nature center to meet some of our playgroup friends. It was a beautiful day that warmed up nicely for a walk in the woods.

As soon as we arrived and started walking toward the building Henry started pointing and say "nake" (snake) over and over again. He was so excited to go in and see all the snakes and they were nice enough to be out crawling around their cages for us to see. I think he really likes them, because when we visited a while back Carol Jo, the animal keeper, let Henry pet them and help change their water.

Henry is really able to walk quite far and he walked on most of our hike around the boardwalk. He enjoyed pointing out the squirrels and birds and saying uphigh. There is a nice seasonal pond also in the woods and that was great fun to look in and to throw rocks in.

One of the funny things he really played with on our walk was walking backwards. He can walk backwards and has done it before, but yesterday he was really enjoying it. He would turn around and walk backwards for long stretches smiling and occasionally looking over his shoulder to see where he was going.

Hopefully, I can take him out more often and let him enjoy the ponds and snake.

Henry's Kitchen

Henry loves to help us cook and he is getting good at adding things to the pots and stirring without throwing things out of the pot. Since he has such a love of cooking we really wanted to get him his own little kitchen to play with so, Daniel has started to make him one.

We got two kitchen cabinets form our local resale store along with various other little pieces to start the project. We are slowly gathering things to pull the whole thing together.

Kitchen sink and oven

Daniel has reattached the cabinet door so, that it opens down like a real oven and plans to put a Plexiglas window into so, Henry can see what he is cooking. It has knobs that really turn and will have four burners on top as soon as they are designed.

The other side will have a sink and storage cabinet. I think Henry might be a little disappointed that the sink doesn't run real water.

Refrigerator

It still has to be worked on, but there will be updates to come on it.

Henry also enjoys helping use all the "ToTo" tools to help work on his kitchen. It will be lots of fun to see him play with it all in the end.
